The Razor Returns slot machine has 5×5 reels and 40 fixed paylines. Wins are formed by landing matching symbols on neighbouring reels, starting with reel 1. Only the maximum line win value is paid. If you've played the original Razor Shark slot, you'll notice a significant increase in both images and music here. The background is extremely similar, which is appropriate given that you are at the bottom of the ocean. But you get the impression that you're going a little deeper in this one, with fish swimming on either side of the reels as you spin away.

The symbols appear more frightening than the original, and the soundtrack is more dramatic. You'll also hear the sound of Jaws from time to time, adding to the already exciting gameplay. It does for me, as someone who has seen the Jaws film. If you have seen the film, you will understand exactly what I mean.

When you activate the Free Spins feature, the reels become deeper and darker, with a more ominous and scary soundtrack playing as you spin away in anticipation of some big wins. There's also a shipwreck in the background, so you're truly at the bottom of the ocean for the bonus round. When you see neon fish on both sides of the reels, you know it's deep. The symbol animations are also a wonderful touch, and far better than what we saw in the original slot. I also enjoy the faint sound of rushing water after the round is completed and before you confirm your overall win. Do you know how it feels to have your head above water but your ears submerged? It's oddly comforting if you keep going for a while before confirming your victory. Anyway, I digress. Overall, the theme is fantastic, and Push Gaming should be quite proud of their work here.

Lower-paying symbols on the reels include anchors, compasses, periscopes, and diving helmets. These are accompanied by higher-paying shark icons of various colours.  The most profitable symbol is the orange shark, which pays 0.6, 2.5, or 7.5 times your total stake for combinations of 3, 4, or 5.

The game's Wild is a great white shark, which replaces all other conventional paying symbols and pays up to 12.5 times the bet for five in a row.
